Well,請大家盡量看看,給點意見吧~(BTW,相片複製不上來,我懶 XD) 文法錯誤,拼字錯誤,麻煩不要笑得太大聲...

Taipei County Marathon Association

2009 Beauty of Shuang-si: The Cherry Blossom Marathon

Course Introduction

Taipei County Marathon Association, one of the most active jogging club in Taiwan, has held 11 national marathon, 4 holiday marathon and 6 50K ultra-marathon in the past ten or more years.

The association, with the support of Shuang-si Township Administrative Office, has decided to hold another marathon race in Shuag-si, one of the most beautiful township in Northern Taiwan, in Feb. 19 (Sun), 2009.

The course of this race will pass through “Shuang-tai Pathway”, crossing the border of Taipei and I-lan County and then turnover back to the start point.

"Shuang-tai Pathway”, also known as “Cherry Blossom Boulevard” for Shuang-si Township Administrative Office plants numerous Cherry Blossom Trees along the Pathway, is the most important access for Tai-pin Village, a place where the not-many citizens live along the source of Dan-shui River. This village is surrounded by mountains. Thus, the Pathway has to go through a 500-meter high mountain then can arrive this place. The pathway then continuously stretches along the stream. Finally, it will reach the border.

The length of this pathway is 19 km. In order to complement the distance of 21.095 km, the runners will cross the border, entering into I-lan county for around 2 km.

Section 1: START → 8K (“Lan Pin Chien Li” Stele)

The Start of this race is Shuang-si Senior High School.

The entrance of Tai-pin Pathway is only around 20 or 30 meters away from this school.

Around 800 meters after turning into the Pathway, you will have to face a long slope for 8 km, climbing from 90 m to around 500 m. The first 4 km might be the most difficult, since there is no flat road but just keep going up and up with 8 turnover curves.

From 4 km to 8 km, you will get the chance to adjust yourself, for some flat, and even downhill road will pop up in front of you.

In addition to the Cherry Blossom trees, you may also find the rhododendrons beside the road.

Oh, don't forget to look around the mountains in about 5.5 K.

In around 7.5 K, you'll see a Chinese tablet. This is a memorial tablet for an ancient path “Resignation Hill Footway”.

"Resignation Hill”? The story goes like this: in 1971, a teacher, just graduated from College, was assigned to have his first students in Tai-pin Elementary school in Tai-pin village. At that period of time, there is no “Tai-pin Pathway”. To enter into Tai-pin, the only choice is walking through the footway. When he reached here, he was so exhausted that almost couldn't move any more, but he only finished half of his traveling! Feeling how “difficult” his life would be in around three or five years, he decided to go back to Taipei and resign from the job.

So is the name of this hill and this ancient footway.

Moving forward around 500 m, you'll meet “Lan Pin Chien Li” Stele, the second highest point along the course. If you have another chance to be here, don't for get to get on the ladder for the gazibo. When it is sunny, you may see Pacific Ocean from the gazibo.

However, I recommend you not to linger here on Feb. 15, or you might be caught by the great view and forget the race!

Section 2: 8K → 13K (Entrance of Shou-shan Temple)

Waving to the stele, you'll enjoy the comfortable downhill for 1 K.

Now we get here. Tai-pin Village, a place accompanied by the clear stream and fresh green mountains.

If you still have some strength, don't forget to give the countryside a shot. I would say that no other place in Taipei would own such pureness, simplicity and tranquility.

In this section, you'll have to face some short uphill and downhill, but they are not long. Don't worry.

When seeing the sign of Chung-hwa Telecom, you arrive the end of this section and the most famous scenic area in this village: “Hu Bao” Lake, literally means “Lake of Tiger and Leopard”. This name comes not because of the existence of tiger and leopard, but because the shape of the mountain around the stream just like a tiger and a leopard.

Where you'll pass by is just the entrance of this Lake. If you are fond of this place, you may plan a trip here in summer. This is a popular place during the hot days, since the tourists can freely enjoy the fresh cool water here.

Moving forward from the lake, it's the entrance of Tai-pin Elementary School. This school has been abandoned. And then, you'll see Tai-pin Police Substation and the only one grocery store along the Pathway.

Crossing a bridge, a gate of a temple stands on your left side. This is the entrance of Shou-shan Temple. Congratulation! You've finished another section!

Section 3: 13K → 21K (Turnover Point)

Leaving Shou-shan Temple behind, the Pathway begins to go uphill again. The slope is not that steep, though, but you might feel a bit annoying. Try to control yourself. Don't waste too much of your energy in this section.

Around 17.5K, you meet an intersection. The Pathway will turn left. If you take the road straight ahead, you'll go astray. This straight road will lead you to a camping place “Wan Tan”. Don't be nervous. Just follow other runners and you are on the right way!

Now you get to 19K. Another stele! This is the border of Taipei County and I-lan County. Just go ahead. Then, you'll get to the highest place of the whole course.

The destination of this Pathway is “Da-si”, a fishing village of Tou-chen Township. But we won't take you that far (another 10 km from the border to the village!). Don't forget to view the magnificent mountain on your left side. Deep valley. High mountain. I hope that won't take your breathe away.

Going Back: The Road for Trial and Victory

Taking the wristlet as a prove for finishing half course, you get on the way back to Shuang-si High school.

From 21K to 29K, most of the time you'll enjoy the downhill. However, remember not to push yourself too much. You still have a long way to go.

From 29K to 33K, several uphills and downhills are waiting for you.

The most difficult section, according to our experience, is from 33K to 34K. You need to conquer a long and steep slope when you are a bit exhausted. Please keep encouraging your legs and your will. Trust yourself: “Yes, I can!”

34K, congratulation! Seeing “Lan Pin Chien Li” Stele again means you've passed the trial!

From 34K to 41K, the downhill road will ease your mind. Enjoy yourself!

When you reach the plain again, you are nearly finishing the race. Tidy yourself a bit, preparing to welcome the victory and achievement belong to you!
